Geelong Masters Day 1 - Deniki
Update from the track - Night 1 - Deniki
An early start to the day, with the trekkers up for a 4.00am delicious buffet breakfast at the Lamana Hotel.
A flight from Port Moresby to Popondetta and a 3 hour truck/bus ride to Kokoda Village for lunch.
The crew visited the War Memorial and the Kokoda Plateau, the site of a vicious battle between Australia and the Japanese in 1942. After lunch they commenced the Kokoda Track, walking under the arches and onto Hoi Village where they swam before the hike to Deniki where they settled in for the night.
Everyone is trekking well and are all in good spirits!
